About Me - The other stuff

I firmly believe that I am at this point in my life due to the lifeforms I've had the pleasure of interacting with. I say it like that because pets are people too :) . The kindness shown to me and the guidance given by so many people revealed to me what type of person I want to be. I'd mention names here, but then I'd have to buy them a beer. A quote I saw on someone's profile while helping some new coders on freeCodeCamp forum sticks with me here: Spread kindness like confetti. On to the "why".

My MSc degree in bioinorganic chemistry was partially computational. I realised then I liked it a lot more than the experimental stuff. In the middle of my PhD we faced a financial crisis, so I had to prioritise and took a job as an intern medical scientist - emergency staff - during the rise of Covid at Tygerberg Hospital. It again confirmed that the seed was planted, the lack of programming was felt. As emergency funds started to run out, and our contracts were coming to an end, I wanted to take a chance, hoping that someone would take a chance on me (ABBA). Dr Raminderpal - CEO and co-founder of Incubate Bio BV - decided to give me a shot. The bug has bitten, I am now a developer, and can only polish my skills and brush up my knowledge as we move forward. Onto the things we spend too much money on, e.g. hobbies.

You know how a person has green fingers if they're good with gardening? I have brown fingers, some survive and some don't. I keep saying it's Darwin's fault, and I still take pleasure in the plants that thrive. Me and my fiancé also enjoy a good RPG or FPS, like good old Skyrim, and hiking. Other than this, I enjoy learning new skills, and while currently doing project based courses, I will expand on this to include unique projects as well.
